Now, look at the life cycle of an apple tree below.

  • How are all the parts connected?

Apple Tree growth cycle

Apple trees begin from a small seed hidden inside of an apple.

The seed grows into a sprout (a small, tiny apple tree), which then grows into an adult tree!

You made a connection! The apple blossoms, or flowers, turn into apples that you get to eat!

Apple Tree Life Cycle

So far, you have learned that an apple seed turns into a sprout or a small, tiny tree. Then, it grows into an adult apple tree.

The apple tree makes apple blossoms, or flowers, which turn into apples!

WOW!

However, one very important step happens before the apple blossoms turn into apples.

  • Can you guess what that is?

If you were thinking pollination, you were right!

Apple blossoms must be pollinated by an insect, usually a bee, to grow into apples!
