If lemon juice is a 3, water is a 7, and broccoli is a 10, what does that mean? Is that flavor on a scale of 1-10? Don't bother tasting them, but do find out how a pH scale is used to measure acidity!
Do you remember that water is considered a neutral substance, meaning it is neither an acid nor a base? Did you know that water is also considered to be a “7” on the litmus scale? What is that all about? Read on to find out!
In the previous Acids and Bases lesson, Dr. Z mentioned something known as the “pH scale.”

If you take a look at the picture above, you will notice that the pH scale may have something to do with acids and bases, or alkalis.
