  • What do these sentences have in common?
  • Did you figure out what the sentences have in common?

Listen closely to the way the words sound. You probably noticed that the some of the words ended with the same sound.

When words have the same ending sound, like "cat" and "mat," or "fish" or "dish," we say that those words rhyme.

Rhyming words have the same ending sounds. Watch Mr. Mike TV give examples of rhyming and non-rhyming words in his video, Rhyming Words Game (learning game for children). Be sure you play along in the video, and when he asks, choose the word that does not rhyme!
