• What is the denominator? What does it represent?
• What is an improper fraction?
• What do you know about the value of an improper fraction?

Fractions can be shown as a picture, as a number, or on a number line.

The numerator is the top number in a fraction and tells how many parts there are. The denominator is the bottom number and tells how many equal parts the whole is divided into.

An improper fraction is when the numerator is bigger than the denominator, so its value is always greater than 1.
