Numbers are everywhere!

Look around — you can find them in all kinds of places!

  • Are you ready to become a number detective?

You will solve number mysteries by subtracting by 7 and adding up by 3.

Grab your spyglass, detective, and get started!

It's time to practice subtracting numbers less than 20 by 7!

Imagine a hungry little mouse sneaking into a kitchen, stealing blocks of cheese. Uh-oh! The cheese is disappearing!

It's time for the number detective to get on the case!

There are 12 pieces of cheese on a plate.

twelve blocks of cheese

The mouse eats 7 pieces of cheese!

  • How many pieces are left?

Use subtraction to solve this mystery!

12 - 7 = 5!

So, there were 12 pieces of cheese, and the mouse ate 7. That means there are 5 pieces of cheese left.

Then, 7 fish are taken out.

  • How many are left in the tank?

10 - 7 = ?

Here’s a trick! To find out, count up from 7. Start at 7 and count up to 10.

7 + 3 = 10!

So, 3 fish are left in the fish tank.

10 - 7 = 3 and 7 + 3 = 10

Amazing!
