Lesson Plan - Get It!
- Do you celebrate Christmas? Hanukkah? Kwanzaa?
- What do you do for these holidays?
- Do you have the same celebrations and food each year during these holidays?
People worldwide celebrate different holidays, and some people don’t celebrate holidays at all.
Each community has its way of life, usually passed down from ancestors. Ancestors are all the people in your family who have lived before you.
The way people live their lives, their ideas, and what they believe is called their culture. You have been raised in a certain culture, and that is all you know.
Before looking at your own culture, watch the video below on what culture is.
As you watch the next video, pay attention to see if you can find pictures of your own culture.
- Was there a picture from a culture different from yours that stood out to you?
