Think about a fun birthday party you attended. When your Mom picks you up and asks you, "How was the party?", how do you decide what to tell her? There is so much to tell and so little time!
Summarizing what you read is an important skill to develop for reading comprehension. A good summary tells the most important parts of the story, sequences the events in order, and conveys the central meaning of the text.
