  • If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Maybe you'd like to fly. Perhaps you'd like to be able to run at the speed of lightning or become so strong that you could lift buildings.

  • Did you know that ants can lift over ten times their weight?

If humans could do this, they'd be able to lift cars above their heads!

That would be a fun superpower!

Counting Stickers

fashion and food stickers

Now, imagine you just bought a pack of really cool stickers. Each pack has 8 sheets, each containing 100 stickers.

You can use the multiples of 100 superpower to find out how many total stickers you bought quickly!

Take a look!

8 sheets of stickers x 100 stickers per sheet = ?

To solve, multiply the non-zero digits first, then add the zeroes to your answer.

        8
  x 1 0 0

The non-zero digits are 8 and 1.

So, multiply: 8 x 1 = 8.

Now, add the two zeros.

So, 8 x 100 = 800

What a fantastic number superpower!

Buy Some Bikes

bikes

Now, imagine you want to buy three bikes, each costing $200.

You can use the number superpower to solve this problem, too!

        3
  x 2 0 0

Start by multiplying 3 x 2 since those are the non-zero digits.

So, 3 x 2 = 6.

Then, add the two zeros to your answer.

This means: 3 x $200 = $600!

So, three bikes would cost you $600. Great job!

Great job!
