Whether you're helping with dinner or creating your own science experiments, being able to measure liquids confidently is a super skill!

  • Are you ready to level up your measuring game?

Dive in and become a master at measuring liquids.

The first step to becoming a measurement master is knowing what different measurements are called and what they mean.

One essential measurement is the gallon.

If you have ever seen a gallon of milk, you know what this unit of measurement looks like.

gallon of milk

A gallon is pretty big and holds a lot of liquid.

Now, it's time to talk about something a little smaller: the quart. You might see this measurement when you buy a large bottle of water or even a quart of milk.

Look at these two units of measurement side by side.

gallon and quart

Here’s a neat fact: 1 gallon can be divided into 4 quarts! That means 1 gallon is equal to 4 quarts!

So, if you had a gallon of delicious chocolate milk, you could share it by pouring it into 4 quarts.

Yum!

  • Now, if 4 quarts equal 1 gallon, what do you think 8 quarts equals?

8 ÷ 4 = 2!

That means 8 quarts is the same as 2 gallons.

  • Cool, right?

  • What if you want to convert 3 gallons into quarts?
  • Do you remember how many quarts are in a gallon?

That's right; 4!

So, you can multiply 3 gallons by 4 quarts to find out how many quarts there are.

3 x 4 = 12!

That means 3 gallons equals 12 quarts! Awesome!
