You’re setting off on a double-fact adventure to solve the troll’s tricky numbers! You’ll use your take-away powers to figure out how many numbers are left after subtracting doubles.

The Troll's Sneaky Trick

You’re walking through the magical Number Forest when you find 16 glowing stones.

Suddenly, the sneaky troll takes away 8 stones!

  • How many stones do you have left?

Try stomping your feet 8 times as you count what’s left. Each stomp scares the troll away!

You did it! You have 8 stones left.

That’s because 16 take away 8 leaves you with 8.

  • Guess what?

The number left is the same as the number you took away. That's the magic of double numbers.
