Counting all those coins might seem tricky, but with the making ten secret code, it will be as easy as 1, 2, 3!

The first part of the making ten secret code is to find the hidden ten.
Imagine you add 7 gold coins to 4 more gold coins. Use the secret code to make a ten!
7 + ? = 10
You need 3 more coins!
So, break down the number 4 into 3 and 1.
Because you need 3 more coins to make 10!
7 + 3 = 10
Great job!
Now, don't forget about the 1 coin left over from 4.
10 + 1 = 11
You did it! You made a 10, and then added what was left to get 11. Awesome work, explorer!

9 + 9 = ?
To add 9 gold coins to 9 more, first make a 10.
9 + ? = 10
You need 1 more! So, break the second 9 into 1 and 8.
9 + 1 = 10
You made a ten!
Now, don’t forget the 8 that’s left.
10 + 8 = 18
You did it again!
You changed 9 + 9 into 10 + 8, which equals 18!
