Clothing comes in all the colors of the rainbow. This lesson will use colors to describe clothing.

If you don't remember your colors in Spanish, be sure to visit our lesson found under Additional Resources in the right-hand sidebar.

Adjectives in Spanish are placed after the noun they are modifying and must agree in number and gender with the noun.

  • What does that mean?

In Spanish, nouns are masculine or feminine as indicated by the definite or indefinite article that precedes the noun.

Our lesson on classroom objects (Additional Resources) explained definite nouns. This lesson will explore indefinite articles.

Review the rules:

Now for colors, we simply add them to the end of the phrase.

Easy! ¡Facil!

  • What do you do with clothing?

You wear it! In Spanish, we have a few related verbs:

  poner = to put on
  vestirse = to wear
  usar = to use or wear

For this lesson, we will focus on the verb usar.

Just like in English, verbs in Spanish must be conjugated depending on the subject. Here is a list of pronouns in Spanish and the conjugation of the verb usar:

  Yo uso. = I wear.
  Tu usas. = You wear.
  Él usa. = He wears.
  Ella usa. = She wears.
  Usted usa. = You wear.
  Nosotros usamas. = We wear.
  Ellos usan. = They wear.
  Ellas usan. = They wear.
  Ustedes usan. = You wear.

Don't worry about conjugations for this lesson.

When you are ready, head over to the Got It? section to practice!
