Dwight D. Eisenhower, while a commander in the U.S. Army, was offered a position as military correspondence writer that would have increased his salary threefold. He declined the offer simply because he loved the U.S. Army so much, he could not leave.

  • Can you imagine giving up the opportunity to triple your salary?

This is a great example of someone doing his job for all the right reasons! Find other reasons that made Eisenhower remain committed to his position as commander, then proceed to rise through the ranks to become the ultimate leader, the American Commander-in-Chief!

Dwight D. Eisenhower was a man of integrity who was held in very high regard by most people.

As a high-ranking military leader, he led the county to many victories, and even helped end two wars. This great leader also led the government of the United States as its 34th president and Commander-in-Chief. Being a good leader takes many skills and abilities. President Eisenhower possessed many important characteristics.

    • what characteristic you chose and what it means
    • why it is important to have this characteristic to be a good leader
    • who you personally know who has this characteristic
    • why this characteristic is important for the presidency
