It's alright if you haven't yet started thinking about your future, but you should start thinking about it and planning now! This lesson will help you get started.

Every student should have a college or career plan in high school.

You need to prepare before you enter the workforce. Planning can take a long time, even years!

Once you determine what type of career you want to pursue, you will determine if that career requires college, technical school, or a certificate.

• What is a career?

A career is an individual's story of a continuous process of learning and development, positions held, degrees earned, and accomplishments achieved over one's lifetime.

• What is an interest?

An interest is something you enjoy doing.

To find a fulfilling career, you must first know your interests. Reflect on some things that you enjoy doing. They could be related to school, work, hobbies, sports, clubs, religious activities, or volunteer work.

• What are values?

Values are what are important to you in your personal life and in a work environment.

Some people value a high income, while others value shorter work days or working with and helping others. Think about what you value in relation to your career.
