Lesson Plan - Get It!
Why did Charlotte like Wilbur so much? It's not like they could play "catch" or anything.
In the last Related Lesson, found in the right-hand sidebar, you read about the development of the friendship of Charlotte and Wilbur.
What are some of your ideas for the reasons why Charlotte likes Wilbur so much? Share your ideas with your parent or teacher. Before you begin reading the next chapters, find the Charlotte's Web Chapter Summary in your notebook on Page 10. (Downloadable Resources) Add a summary for Chapters 4 through 7. You can use the same format you used in the last lesson to write a summary. Refer back to the text if needed. When writing your summary, you will include the following points:
- Somebody (who was the chapter about)
- Wanted (what did the character want)
- But (What was the problem)
- So (what happened next)
- Then (how was the problem solved or how did the section end)
On the right side of the page, write a prediction about what you think will happen in Chapters 8 through 10. You will return to this page for more chapter summaries.
In Chapters 8 through 10, you will read some words that may be unfamiliar to you. Print Charlotte's Web Vocabulary 8-10 from Downloadable Resources in the right-hand sidebar.
Follow the directions, assemble the vocabulary page, and glue it into your Charlotte's Web notebook on Page 14. Add the new page to the Table of Contents in the beginning of the notebook. Use a traditional dictionary or an online dictionary such as Dictionary.com to look up the meaning of each word. Write the definition under the flap that matches each word.
As you read Chapters 8 through 10, look for these vocabulary words and check to see if the definition you chose has the same context as the way the word is used in the book.
