In Chapter 7, Paul received leave to visit his family; however, he must return to the war effort after two weeks.
In Chapter 8, Paul first goes to a training camp where he encounters a prisoner-of-war camp. In Chapter 9, Paul rejoins his company at the front.
Before reading Chapters 8 and 9, there is some vocabulary to define. Look up the definitions of the following vocabulary terms from Chapters 8 and 9 in either a print or online dictionary like Dictionary.com. After writing down the definitions, write a sentence using each word in the correct context.
