The Civil War was the deadliest war for America, because more Americans died in that war than in any other war in history.
Most people believed that the war would be quick, and actually viewed the first battles of the wars as entertainment, sitting over the hills watching them unfold. The Civil war raged on for 4 years, from 1861-1865, killing an estimated 620,000 men.
